Best laptops for students in the UAE
Back-to-school is the busiest season on any UAE tech counter. These are the laptops I recommend to parents and students, and why.

Start with one question: what does the course need?
- School, essays, browsing, Office, Teams: almost any laptop on this page works. Go for battery and weight.
- Business, media, design: a MacBook Air or a premium Windows ultrabook.
- Engineering, architecture (CAD), gaming: you probably need Windows and a dedicated graphics card. Check the university's software list first.
MacBook Neo — from AED 2,999
The cheapest Mac sold in the UAE. Fanless and light. The 8GB memory is fine for school work but limits heavy multitasking.

MacBook Air 13-inch (M5) — from AED 5,499
16GB memory and 512GB storage as standard means it will last the whole degree. Ask for education pricing — Apple and authorised resellers offer it with a student ID.

HP OmniBook 5 (2026, Snapdragon) — from AED 3,199
OLED screen, light, and an English/Arabic keyboard. Snapdragon chips give great battery, but check that any specialist course software runs on ARM Windows.

Lenovo LOQ 15 (RTX 5050) — check price
A real NVIDIA graphics card for CAD, 3D and gaming. It's heavy and the battery is short, so it's best as a desk laptop.

Money-saving tips for UAE students
- Education pricing is usually AED 400 cheaper on a MacBook Air. Ask for it every time.
- Back-to-school promos (August–September) often add gift cards or free accessories.
- For Windows laptops, make sure the keyboard layout suits you (English-only or English/Arabic).
- Extended warranty is worth considering for younger students. Compare the cost to a repair.
